Sensor Tower Acquires AppMagic to Expand SMB Gaming Intelligence Offering
Sensor Tower has announced its acquisition of AppMagic, strengthening its position within the mobile app intelligence market while expanding its reach into the small and medium-sized business (SMB) segment.
Founded in 2016, AppMagic built its reputation as a popular market intelligence platform for indie developers, smaller mobile gaming studios, and growing publishers. The platform is particularly well known for its accessible competitive intelligence tools, revenue estimates, and market trend analysis.
Under the acquisition, AppMagic will become Sensor Tower’s dedicated SMB offering, allowing the company to broaden its product suite beyond enterprise-level customers. Sensor Tower stated that the move reflects its ambition to support “all stages of the mobile app and gaming ecosystem,” from indie developers through to large publishers.
The deal also signals continued consolidation within the app intelligence and analytics space. Sensor Tower has increasingly expanded beyond traditional mobile app tracking, growing its capabilities across PC and console insights, LiveOps intelligence, advertising analytics, web insights, and audience intelligence. Most notable with the acquisition of data.ai, PlayLiner and Video Game Insights.
In a statement accompanying the announcement, Sensor Tower Co-Founder and CEO Oliver Yeh described the acquisition as “an exciting chapter” for the company’s mobile app intelligence business, adding that combining the two companies’ products and teams would help create a stronger SMB-focused solution.
Meanwhile, AppMagic Founder and CEO Max Samorukov highlighted the broader opportunities the acquisition could create for existing users, pointing to richer datasets and deeper market visibility.
The acquisition comes at a time when demand for app intelligence continues to grow. According to Sensor Tower’s State of Mobile Report, mobile apps generated 149 billion downloads globally in 2025, reinforcing the need for studios and publishers to better understand increasingly competitive market conditions.
For the mobile gaming industry specifically, the move could prove significant. AppMagic has long been viewed as one of the more accessible analytics platforms for smaller studios, while Sensor Tower has traditionally focused on enterprise-scale intelligence solutions. Bringing the two together creates a broader ecosystem spanning indie developers, mid-sized publishers, and global gaming companies alike.
